Students Receive Trophies for Academic Achievement

Students in grades 1-5 at Zakho International School, a SABIS® PPP school, received trophies for their academic achievement on December 17, 2015. Responsible for organizing this activity was the SABIS Student Life Organization®’s (SLO®) Academic Department.

Both the Academic Quality Controller (AQC) and director visited grades 1-5 to present trophies to the sections with the highest averages from the Term 1 finals in different subjects. Additionally, the AMS Champion Trophy was given to the section that scored the highest in the weekly AMS assessments in English and mathematics, a week before winter break.

The trophies will be displayed in the classrooms on shelves. Also, students were told that if their grades drop in the CAT 2:1, the trophy will be handed over to the rival section, who will then be the champions.

The main purpose of having this activity was to reward the entire class for their academic efforts and create some competition between each section, in order for the students to achieve higher marks. “We felt the joy in the students’ faces when they knew they were the winners. It was also an advising session for the students on studying better in order to compete between one another,” the AQC and director said.
