Grade 1 Students and Parents at Zakho Participate at Traditional Cuisine Day

Students in Grade 1 at Zakho International School, a SABIS^® PPP school in Kurdistan, hosted a Traditional Cuisine Day, on February 4, 2017.

On Saturday, parents came to school with their children and a Kurdish dish which they had prepared at home. Each dish was assigned a number and a taste testing competition was held. The judges were two teachers from school and the cafeteria chef and they choose three winners, two meals and a dessert. After the competition, the parents mingled with one another and shared recipes and cooking tips. 

The purpose of this activity was for parents and their children to showcase traditional Kurdish dishes and family recipes. It also allowed parents and their children to socialize with others in the school community. “I was so happy that I participated with my child at the event, it was nice to share food with everyone,” said a parent.
