Grade 3 Students at Zakho Learn about Animal Life
On November 4, 2017, Grade 3 students at Zakho International School, a SABIS® PPP school in Kurdistan, visited the University of Zakho’s Department of Biology to learn more about animal science.
Upon arrival to the university, students were divided into three groups of seven students so they were able to see each display clearly and hear what their science teachers were saying. As they walked through the department, the teacher explained to the students what they were looking at. The students saw animals from all the different groups including insects, reptiles, mammals, etc. Students also enjoyed watching a video about the different life cycles of animals, their feeding habits, and interesting facts about them.
The purpose of this trip was to bring students lessons to life. The educational trip proved to be very successful as the students learned the information in a new and exciting way. “This was a very useful field trip. It helped students understand more about animals and insects. Seeing real-life examples helps the students understand the lesson better,” said a teacher.
