ZAKHO INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS TAKE PART IN A DEBATE COMPETITION.

On December 8, 2018, Grade 7 and 8 students at Zakho International School, a SABIS® PPP school in Kurdistan, participated in a debate.

The debate was organized by the SABIS Student Life Organization® (SLO®) Academic Department and the topic was “money.” The students formed two teams that each took one side of the debate. Grade 7 supported the theme, “money is everything in life,” while grade 8 students opposed them and supported the theme, “money is nothing in life.” Each team, represented by a team leader, came up with strong arguments to explain their causes and at the end it was agreed that both classes had good points and everyone was a winner.

The debate was a good way to encourage students to think about important issues in the world and teaches them to defend and argue matters that mean something to them. The students thoroughly enjoyed their time sharing their opinion with friends and look forward to the next debate. “We hope to have more like this again in the future,” said a teacher
