Zakho Students Celebrate Kurdistan Flag Day
On December 17, 2017, students at Zakho International School, a SABIS® PPP school in Kurdistan, celebrated Flag Day.
During the 8th period of the day, students from KG 1 to Grade 7 gathered to begin the celebration of Flag Day. The students assembled in front of the school, which was decorated with the colors of the Kurdish flag. They then observed a raising of the flag with the national anthem playing in the background. After the gathering, students headed to the cafeteria for a finale with music and dancing to be enjoyed by all.
The purpose of this activity is to familiarize students with the Kurdish Flag and celebrate Kurdish culture and identity. “We liked the celebration very much. It was a great way to express our love for Kurdistan,” said a student.
