Zakho Students Participate in Football Competition
On January 20, 2018, students in grades 5 to 7 at Zakho International School, a SABIS® PPP school in Kurdistan, participated in a small football competition at the school.
During their lunch breaks, students were organized into two groups of three teams. These teams competed against one another until they reached the finals, when the leading team in each group faced off in the finals. The two teams in the finals were rewarded with trophies for coming in first and second place, and were continuously cheered on by other teams in their groups. Individual students with excellent sportsmanship and dedication, also received medals for their efforts. Everyone had a wonderful time.
The purpose of the football competition was to teach students about sportsmanship through competition as well as encourage team activities. The students enjoyed the activity very much. “This was a very positive activity for the students. They had the chance to see the competitive side of sports and learn about having good sportsmanship,” said a teacher.
