Zakho Students Take an Educational Trip to the Fire Department

On January 14, 2017, students at Zakho International School, a SABIS® PPP school in Kurdistan, spent an informative afternoon learning about fire safety.

All the students were asked to meet at the local fire department where they were greeted by firefighters. First the students learned about fire safety, how to behave in a fire emergency, and how to use fire accessories like a fire extinguisher. The students then saw a live demonstration of using the extinguisher.  Afterwards, the students took a tour of the fire department where they learned the different roles the firefighters had and what the different equipment were used for. Finally, the students were given the chance to ask any questions they wanted to the firefighter.

The purpose of this activity was to give the students an educational experience that they could learn valuable information from. “My daughter came home and taught me how to use an extinguisher, she was so excited about the things she learned during the activity,” said a parent.
