ZAKHO STUDENTS TAKE PART IN SPELLING BEE

On January 19,2018, Grade 5 students at Zakho International School, a SABIS^® PPP school in Kurdistan, took part in a Spelling Bee. Responsible for organizing this event was the SABIS Student Life Organization’s (SLO^®) Academic Department.

The students were told to study a list from their class reader “The Crazy Horse” to prepare for the spelling competition. Once they arrived to the event, the academic event prefects explained the rules to the students and the competition began. At the end of the competition, the winners received trophies and all participants received medals and gifts for taking part in the competition.

The purpose of the activity was to help students improve their spelling, increase their vocabulary and also to encourage them to study at home. “I think it is a good activity for them to memorize the spelling words, which will help them in their exams in a fun and enjoyable way,” said a teacher.
