ZAKHO STUDENTS VISIT CENTER FOR CHILDREN WITH AUTISM

ZAKHO STUDENTS VISIT CENTER FOR CHILDREN WITH AUTISM

All students at Zakho International School, a SABIS® PPP school in Kurdistan, participated in a charity campaign to collect toys for children on March 9, 2019.

Prefects in the Social Responsibility Department of the SABIS® Student Life Organization® (SLO®) worked with all the students collecting and wrapping toys to donate to the autism center. The prefects with teachers then visited the center with the items that were donated to distribute them directly to the children. Upon arrival, they were welcomed by the administrator, who explained to them all about autism and the impact it has on the daily life of the students at the center. They also took a tour of the center and had the opportunity to meet and interact with the children, play the piano, and sing songs together.

The purpose of this activity was to instill a sense of responsibility in our students to be aware of those less fortunate and to help everyone in their community. The Initiative was a great start by the students who became even more devoted to helping others. “We appreciated this activity because we want our children to understand the concept of autism and how the children still manage their school day despite their disabilities,” said a parent.
